Vogue Knitting on the Go! Beginner Basics by Trisha Malcolm (Editor)

Published 2003

“With the beginning knitter in mind, this volume devotes almost half of the book to knitting instruction as well as... many easily-accomplished scarves, hats, children’s clothes, and a sampler baby blanket. The reasonable price makes this a good choice for even smaller public libraries.”—Library Journal.

Library Journal

This is the 20th title in the "Vogue Knitting on the Go" series-a topical series of knitwear projects in small hardcover format suitable for carrying in a knitting basket or tote bag. With the beginning knitter in mind, this volume devotes almost half of the book to knitting instruction as well as mini-lessons on topics like felting, dyeing with Kool-Aid, and making pompoms for hats. Projects include many easily accomplished scarves as well as hats, children's clothes, and a sampler baby blanket. A standardized yarn weight system table makes it easier for the reader to substitute yarns for the luxury fibers used in some of the projects. The reasonable price makes this a good choice for even smaller public libraries. Copyright 2003 Reed Business Information.\

Well indeed, I don't know who these "beginners" are but I guess I'll be looking for the "pre-beginner" series. I should have been tipped off by the "Vogue". I remember when I was learning to sew, we never looked at the "Vogue" patterns -- only the "Simplicity" and maybe "McCalls"...Nice try KB. I did LOVE the picture on the cover though!
